This review first appeared in the April 4, 1997 issue of the North County Times.

One of the most exciting aspects of the world beat movement is the cross-pollination among different regional musical traditions. In that vein, contemporary flamenco guitarist Gerardo Nuñez takes the energy and passion of flamenco even further by combining it with Latin American rhythms and percussion, giving it an up-to-date and modern sound that is still firmly in the tradition.

Nuñez is a brilliant guitarist, with original and imaginative lines. His playing here is inspired and inventive. In addition to his virtuosic playing, Nuñez wirtes first-rate songs that both capture the very essence of flamenco while also pushing the music forward.
