This review first appeared in the November 27, 1992 issue of the North County Blade-Citizen (now North County Times).

Local Southern California combo the Mighty Penguins have issued a fine R&B/blues CD on San Diego music producer (Street Scene) Rob Hagey's new label.

Thompson and Co. belie their West Coast home with a soul sound straight from the Stax and Volt labels. Thompson's sweet tenor voice is a nice complement to his meaty guitar, and both are set off well by the Penguin's Memphis swing. Catch them before we have to start sharing them with the rest of the world.
