This review first appeared in the February 26, 1993 issue of the North County Blade-Citizen (now North County Times).

Originally recorded in 1966 after her "rediscovery," this may be blues pioneer Sippie Wallace's finest recording in terms of the combination of performance and technology. She was still in strong voice, and the clarity of these tracks is far superior to those she made in the 1920s and '30s at the peak of her fame.

On this reissue of the Storyville LP, Wallace's voice is in fine shape, and she sets down an inspired set of her best-known hits, including the title track, "I'm a Mighty Tight Woman" and "Up the Country Blues."
