As big as its title
The soundtrack for the PBS television series of the same name, "Space Age" is a very listenable album of electronic classical and new age music that stands on its own. As befits its title, Jay Chattaway's album is full of grand themes, sweeping melodies and rich harmonies. He pulls off the necessary balancing act very well, avoiding both ponderousness on one side and triteness on the other. Chattaway has lots of experience in matching music to real life themes of the grandiose, though, having written musical scores for "National Geographic" and various Jacques Cousteau specials, as well as "Star Trek: The Next Generation." |
