This review first appeared in the March 20, 1992 edition of the North County Blade-Citizen (now North County Times).

It's not the guys in Little Texas are without ability; they can flat-out play, when they choose. But on their debut what they choose to do – with one exception – is play it safe.

That one exception, "Down in the Valley," is an upbeat country rocker that only makes the rest of the songs seem even more tame and disappointing by comparison. The others – including the Top 10 single "Some Guys Have All the Love" – are all pleasant but bland ballads which make vanilla pudding seem like jambalaya.

Little Texas needs to learn a lesson from George Jones and George Strait: Ballads don't have to be pabulum, but to escape that fate they have to have some sizzle.
