This release is a real treat. Sam McClain is one of the most vibrant, sensual soul singers out there, and this entire album is full of outstanding original songs destined to become R&B standards.
The success starts with McClain's vocals, which are nasal but with a rich timbre. His phrasing and delivery are among the best – place him alongside Al Green, Johnnie Taylor and Teddy Pendergrass.
Organized Bruce Katz plays his Hammond B-3 to Booker T. Jones perfection, and guitarist Kevin Barry drives the rhythm with energy, while providing tasteful solos.
McClain's brand of soul is slow – romantic bordering on erotic. This isn't dance music; it's a soundtrack for seduction.
