This review first appeared in the November 27, 1992 issue of the North County Blade-Citizen (now North County Times).

Kenny Neal is one of the absolute finest young blues artists playing today. His live shows are mesmerizing, with a combination of deft touch on guitar, spirited vocals and harmonica, and strutting showmanship guaranteed to please. But since his first album, "Bio on the Bayou" on Kingsnake Records (later reissued as "Big News from Baton Rouge" on Alligator), none of his releases has really captured the spark that ignites his live shows.

Good stuff, here, with his new Alligator release – easily his best outing since that first one. But those who've seen Neal live are likely to find something missing.
