Christmas music, acoustic-style

Good People All
Good People All
By Magical Strings and Family

Flying Fish / Rounder Records: 1992

This review first appeared in the December 11, 1992 issue of the North County Blade-Citizen (now North County Times).

While the name of this family band, Magical Strings, might conjure up images of really bad '60s-era easy-listening music, in fact this is one of the hippest folk Christmas music albums you'll come across.

The Boulding family of Seattle plays a variety of Celtic and other acoustic folk instruments, from harp and dulcimer to violin and Irish bagpipes.

This music is cut from a similar cloth, featuring Irish, French, English and German folk songs from the Christmas season. It's good stuff done well, and full of the Yule flavor.
