Lost in Cyberspace

I began writing the Lost in Cyberspace column in early 1998, shortly after I began working at SignOn San Diego, the Web site of the San Diego Union-Tribune. They didn't want me to continue writing the Online San Diego column for ComputorEdge Magazine – so I got them to let me write the same column for them – with a new name, of course.

The column got picked up by Copley News Service and was carried nationally for two years under yet another title, "Net Sitings." Go figure.

It focused on much the same areas as Online San Diego had: a combination of Web site reviews, legal and political issues surrounding the Internet and cyberspace in general, and discussions of what sort of place cyberspace ought to be.

But it died when I left SignOn a few years later to go give the dot.com boom a try, so I've put the archive here. The columns mostly appear as they originally ran (and I indicate any corrections within the column).
